《甲骨文字研究》 中國現代古文字學家、史學家郭沫若（1892—1978）研究甲骨文的第一本論文集。本書於1931年初版於上海。本書的基本內容是對商代甲骨文作文字的考釋，也對甲骨材料本身的其他方麵作了一些探索。本書各篇的冩作，是作者1928年旅居日本時期。甲骨文髮現於1899年，郭沫若進行甲骨文字考釋時，學術界對甲骨文的研究才剛剛開始，所能認識的字還不多。作者在書中對甲骨文中的祖、妣、臣、宰、耤、勿、和、朋、歲、甲、易日、鏝黽、五十、七十、幹支字等進行了考釋。作者在釋字的同時，更着力於對由此字反映的社會史事進行探討，如在《釋祖妣》文中，提出甲骨文字的祖、妣二字，乃是男女生殖器的象形，古人稱父之父爲祖，父之母爲妣，是一種生殖崇拜，反映了古代社會存在母權製的曆史遺跡。此事雖不雅訓，卻是對古代社會史實作出的合於科學的解釋。在《釋臣宰》文中，提出“臣”字的構形爲豎目，乃是由於臣的身份本是奴隸的冩照。人首俯下則目豎，故用豎目來表示屈服於他人的這種人。宰字像一人在屋下執事，其必爲罪人，其身份亦猶臣。臣宰本是亡國者中，甘願歸順者，故用以宰治其同族，相沿既久，則凡治人者皆稱爲臣宰。在對甲骨材料本身的研究方麵，有關於甲骨斷片的綴合，卜辭殘辭互相補足其文義，文字缺刻筆劃的舉例，甲骨文時代區分的提出等，都是有益甲骨文本身的研究。本書作者是爲研究中國古代社會史而從事甲骨文的研究，通過對已識、未識的甲骨文字的闡述，來了解殷代的生産方式、生産關繫和意識形態，開創了爲探討古代社會的實際而研究古文字的道路，對後世甲骨文和古文字的研究産生深遠的影響。
